And where are you finding this information? Any UOAs to back this statement up? They could be running GC 0w-30, not the standard castrol edge or syntec

Might have better luck posting this in the correct forum, the pcmo forum. A mod will move it there for you.

I guess I'm not "seasoned" enough to know what forum to put this in....just "hit", new topic...but, yea I saw some UOA's on this site for the beemer.

I prefer PP 5w30 in my DI engine. Meets the HO-6? Honda/Acura Turbo spec and has a low evaporation value (forgot the test name. Several UOAs have come back every good on my Mazda CX7 turbo.

This engine was designed to run on Ford oil wasn't it? Im sure you will do fine using that unless you just feel like spending more money.

Ford oil?

And obvious Warranty choice would be Motorcraft Full Synthetic. OR the motorcraft OEM Kendall GT-1 Full syn with ti. Whats the OCI? Bet it has a huge sump. Current ILSAC oil are suppose to be designed for turbo apps and prevent coking and varnish in the turbo bearing - however much comfort that gives you.

just had a UOA done, OLM showed 49% but the TBN was only 2.0 and oil viscosity was way low...on MC semisyn 5w30....I may run the MC full syn, but am looking for some proven good performance in something readily available.....

6qt sump.

I run Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 in mine year round with a Motorcraft Oil Filter and OCI's of 5k miles. The Hyundai gets 5w-20 Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic with Hyundai filter. All oils come from Wally world.
I don't follow OLMs because it's just easier for me to remember to change all my vehicles every 5k, including the Harley...:)

just bought some castrol edge with titanium 5-30 today....seems like some good reviews of this oil out there...just changed my oil, so I'll wait a little bit longer before I try it out, bought it at O'rileys, they price matched autozones deal...autozone was out.

I hear Crisco works well in these. Just don't use lard...it cokes in the turbos.

In all seriousness, any name brand 5w-30 semi/full synthetic would work well in this application.

To heck with the T5, I want to try some T6 for the fuel dilution!

^Prob your best bet... Or Maybe even the PU-Euro ....

I'm still firm on just changing out the oil every 3K-3500 no matter what you use on the DI'd motors.

none of the Mobil 1's meet the 929 spec....heard that testing for the HTO spec can't be done because the lab that does testing was destroyed by natural disaster?...seems like a stretch...Sunami maybe? I like the abundant amount of friction reducing materials within the oil, folks comments about how quiet their engine runs on this oil, mpg gains, good UOA's, and comparison to other 5w-30 full synthetics, that meet 929 spec!

This is Jamie again from Ford's Customer Relationship Center. Thank you for writing back to us and for your patience while we escalated your inquiry to a Technical Subject Matter Expert.

According to their resources, the WSS-M2C946-A oil specification is the newer specification that replaces the WSS-M2C929-A specification. It will be the proper engine oil engine oil to use with the WSS-M2C946-A specification.

I hope the information I provided helps. Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.
