Hello all. I’m having issues with my 2014 F150 ABS system and looking for advice.

Brake and traction control warnings are on and the Ford dealer has recommended changing out the ABS module including the pump, valve body and control module at a total cost of just under $4,000 Canadian dollars.

I have found online, that frequently the problem comes from cracked solder joints or burnt out transistors in the control module. I’m planning to remove the control module and send it out for refurbishing at a cost of $300.

Anything else that I should try? I’ve heard of one person that fixed their ABS by removing the control module and then freed up a stuck valve by manually pressing the valve rods to free them up. Is this safe to do?

Yeah it's safe to do just be gentle. No way i'm spending that much one a new one. Probably many YouTube videos on that gen f150 abs.

Consider doing your own diagnosis. The mechanic you took it to has a vested interest in recommending the most expensive repair possible. Forscan, Forscan adapter and a laptop.

This isn't an uncommon thing. A dealer won't re-solder anything in a module due to liability.

How VIN-specific are the modules? A used ebay unit is a good option if it can work. This is what I did on an '05 Taco
