So you're moving to a more expensive oil?

What makes XOM greedy? Their profits? If you go to an Exxon gas station is the gas more expensive than Shell or another major competitor? Don't think so...

Also, the last time I checked, the purpose of a for profit company is to make a profit. Publicly traded companies are also required to increase profit or their stock price sinks. So every time they post record profits they're merely breaking their own record.

Plus, profitable companies pay taxes. It's funny how the term "greed" is used to describe private industry but not the scoundrals in government.

We don't care what oil you use, but as far as XM is concerned you don't understand much about them. Do they make a lot of money? Yes. Do they pay a lot of taxes? Yes, by the billions. In difficult times like these, we can be thankful for sucessful American companies like XM. Wish there were more them.As far as greed,I would imagine XM gives more to charities than some small oil companies are worth.

Amen.

Also, keep in mind that over 70% of their profits come from outside of the US.

I wish our D I R T B A G politicians would let them drill offshore!! We need to get our own oil and gas and cut these others of by their shorthairs!!!

I stopped in at Advance Auto, and that Mobil Advanced Fuel Economy, with sales tax, was $9.25 a quart!

I cannot imagine spending that kind of money on a quart of oil.

Amen to that. It's nice that a domestic company is making money. Granted, I don't buy M1. Their 5000 oil maybe. And there is not a XM gas station within 50 miles of me. But if they pay millions or billions in taxes, maybe I won't have to pay quite so much.
One more thing. If you were applying for a job, would you rather apply at a company making money, or one that has lost money for quite a few years?
Why is it in fashion to hate the wealthy? Oh, wait. Some politicians have drilled that into our heads, even if they themselves are worth quite a few million bucks.

If you don't like XM, don't use their products. Plain and simple.

finally some correct thinking. Oh you are doing well I hate you. Mobil is bashed by every oil company for a good reason. They want to make the money they do and have the success, so it a big king of the hill war. Convince everyone your oil is better than Mobil (maybe even 8X
crackmeup2.gif
), then everyone will flock to the new wonder oil that is better and mobil now sucks. People if you hate Mobil those of you know who you are, dont worry about reading xom posts just move on. I mean jeash what other brand do so many strive to bring down and hate so much. I for one use many brands of oil. Mobil happens to be one but not used exclusively, maybe I should stick to US oils though, God Bless America........

And they canceled the program this year because oil prices dropped so much. Shouldn't it be cheaper to give it way when at a lower price?

I don't think so. I just saw a commercial for this program tonight.

This story was posted on Jan 5 2009. It states that they suspended the program...

Maybe they have since reversed their decision. Maybe they're just still running ads for it so they get good pub. Who knows...
