ExxonMobil advised its marketers that effective February 17, 2009 its branded and unbranded lubricant and grease prices will decrease by up to 10%. According to several markets JobbersWorld spoke with, this decrease equates to $0.52 to $0.68 a gallon for lubricants and about $0.07 a pound for greases, depending on a number of factors. In addition to the type of lubricants or grease, they say another important factor to consider in the price decrease is if the product comes with or without options. Options speak to value add programs and services packaged with the product purchase.

Others are following.

Maybe Mobil Clean 5000 will drop back to $9/5qts.

Combined with the upcoming big $10 rebate on Mobil 1 and lots of print and tv advertising is how they will increase market share in the short term. I'd rather see them make a product that can actually claim across the board better performance than the competition!

Well, since everyone else is starting to have sales because the crude price is down, why not XOM? Lots of sale prices locally on motor oils. Does that mean they are all becoming "inferior?" Love the way some of you guys think!

mobil got smart quick when their prices went up lots of people stopped buying their oil same thing with the yellow bottle prices went up i changed to conoco with fantastic results..

I'd like to try conoco/motorcraft if it weren't for the fact that it comes from Venezuela which is controlled by that douche bag chavez.

I don't think Conoco has anything to do with Venezuela anymore.

Isn't that Citgo that is associated with Chavez?

Yeah, but the average douche bag may not know that.

maybe Mobil is dropping prices to compete with edge, you know 8x cheaper because edge is 8x better

well you can give away free oil if you nationalize the oil industry in your country after you stole it from investors:)

But Chavez is pretty good at stealing things from other people including elections.

Guess some of us dont buy the 1 800 Joe for oil propoganda!

I don't think I care how much they drop their prices...I'm moving off Mobil oil do to their greed...I can see me giving them more of my money. I going to Amsoil

Personally, I often use a semi-local Canadian based refiner because most of their oil comes from Canada (Noco)...

And for the record, I think Chavez is a bombastic superficial and self-serving [censored] that does nothing for the poor in his country but sing rhetoric...but there are a lot of accusations against the way oil companies operate around the world to get their product...

But then, I'm not going to hold the fact that he gives free heating oil to poor US citizens. At least 19 Venezuelans didn't [censored] fly into our skyscrapers!!

I'm not getting political in this thread after this post...but worrying about where your oil comes from for political reasons largely based on noise from hypocritical US politicians is like worrying about, and watching how, your sausage is made because you're health conscious...

And they canceled the program this year because oil prices dropped so much. Shouldn't it be cheaper to give it way when at a lower price?

So you're moving to a more expensive oil?

What makes XOM greedy? Their profits? If you go to an Exxon gas station is the gas more expensive than Shell or another major competitor? Don't think so...

Also, the last time I checked, the purpose of a for profit company is to make a profit. Publicly traded companies are also required to increase profit or their stock price sinks. So every time they post record profits they're merely breaking their own record.
