extreme cold pending for DFW...

I can’t wait to see all the guys with 4x4 trucks with highway tires try to be heroes and go out in the snow/ice for some milk. It’s always good a laugh.
Until it's not!

I put my VC8 winter tires back on the Pilot today. We don't drive much while at home, so they'll stay on until my wife gets back from her planned March trip to Wisconsin.

where i live, the weather channels were all saying it was going to be end of the world this weekend. reality? it's going to be -18 Celcius and -22 Celcius. which mean not very cold in my area. very average. i hear people talking everywhere, they are freaking out and talking about how much it is going to be cold. yet none took the time to check what is really going to happen. the reality is that the closer we are to the weekend, the warmer it gets. i wished weather channels did their jobs instead of trying to scare people all the time.

in our area, when the forecast is a low of 29F, the local weather-guessers start their segment with "Bring in your cats and dogs and plants! It's going to be a C-C-COLD one tonight.

Check out the EXTREME COLD WARNING (10F-22F)

Texas gets hot in summer and cold in the winter.

People should be filling up gas tanks now and non perishable grocery shopping in case of power loss.

My wife went grocery shopping this morning and my son called me a bit ago after doing the same. Both said the shelves were barren like at the beginning of Covid. What items remained, people were climbing all over each other to get to them. Ugh!

Wisconsin can range from -40f in winter to 100f in summer with humidity, we are used extreme conditions.
People who haven’t lived in the upper midwest seem not to understand that yes, the winters are indeed quite cold and long. But the summers are ALSO hot and quite humid. it’s not a shift of weather, just an expansion to pull in more extremes, especially on the cold end.

In between, you get one glorious month of good weather on either end.

4x4s? In Texas there are MANY 2 wheel drive pickups with sketchy rear tires. In ice, snow, even hard rain they put on quite a show.
