Changing your oil according to the schedule (or before) is pretty cheap insurance and IMO it's totally worth avoiding the argument in the service bay. With some of my vehicles, getting warranty items taken care of that were completely unrelated to maintenance (2002 Altima ECU reflash via TSB comes to mind) was enough of a headache, having to get the dealership general manager involved. You have to pick your battles with this industry, and I choose to minimize mine in ways that I can. And, I enjoy changing my oil so it's not something I dread or put off until the last possible mile.
