Been using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum SRT 0w40 every 6 months or 6,000 miles under warranty. Recently been pushing out to 9+ months or 6,000 now out of warranty. Used oil analysis looking good, but have noticed Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W40 does shear quite a bit but has always stayed in grade during my usage.

Now that my inventory has dwindled I'm looking at switching to HPL 0w40 Super Car and planning on running oil change intervals out to 1 year or 6,000. First reason is to run an oil that won't shear so close to being out of grade and would like to support a sponsor here.

Does anyone have or can get access to a new oil analysis on the HPL Super Car 0w40. Would like to see it's starting point relative to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Vehicle is a 2018 Charger Hellcat 6.2.

Thanks.

Interested for similar reasons. Do you know the rated temperature of your thermostat? My 6.4 is 216F.
Great question and have no clue and a simple search didn't answer it. Probably similar due to emissions concerns would be my guess. I know many who run them cooler than stock...but haven't messed with mine.

BL is HPL Supercar 0W-40, sample #2 is HPL Supercar 0W-40. Sample #1 is Ravenol SSL 0W-40.

Out of curiosity, what oil filter do you run? Have a great weekend.
I hoarded OG FRAM Ultra's and FRAM Titanium's (the latter thanks to former member Rod_Knock, who sent me a pile, since they weren't available in Canada), since they are/were arguably the best filter on the market, an incredibly well balanced combination of flow, capacity and filtration, due to the multiple layers of synthetic media.

If you've been in the oil filter section at all, you are aware that Worst Brands, errr, I mean "First Brands", that acquired both FRAM and Champ, is now bankrupt, but that things went downhill at both companies shortly after the acquisition, including the downgrading of the Ultra, but more significantly, the appearance of considerable QC issues with the filters as they tried to improve margins.

This means that all of the "premium" filters including the Royal Purple and AMSOIL EaO, were affected by this. Sloppy glue jobs, ruffled springs that prevent proper sealing, the elimination of the gasket for the spring we saw on the OG Ultra, louvers in the centre tube that were barely open, or not open at all...etc.

If you are looking for a filter that's along the same style of the OG Ultra (albeit, without the silicone ADBV), probably the closest would be the Fleetguard LF16002, which uses their Stratapore media and is 100% efficient at 24 microns.

I am hopeful that by the time I run out of OG Ultra's that AMSOIL will have partnered with somebody else (hopefully Fleetguard or Donaldson) for the EaO.

Yes, have been noticing that discussion as well. Been using the white SRT oil filter and I'm down to one left. Have seen some positive info on the Car Quest Premium line of filters...but will have to see. SRT filters are hard to find sometimes and my local dealer wants $30+ for it...yeah right. Appreciate the info.

If I may ask, what oil change interval are you liking with HPL Super Car 0w40 in your 6.4? Appreciate it.

I have been going by the OLM, but it's a bit over right now, haven't had time to change it, but I'm not concerned, given how long I've run it in the RAM.
6,000 miles? Probably will do same but will test beyond and see.

@OVERKILL Did you really change out your HPL 0W-40 Super Car oil after only 3,466 miles? 🤔

Why? Is that 392 brutal on oil?

That’s 10,000-mile oil easy in a 5.7 Hemi RAM.

No, the OLM goes way longer than that, lol.

1st HPL SC run: 9,795km (6,086 miles)
2nd HPL SC run: 12,104km (7,521 miles)

3rd run isn't done yet, but I should probably change it soon.

Makes more sense. I was looking at 1km listed as your baseline and then 5,579 km lube time on your Sample 1 row lube time and thought you changed the oil.
