Of these two filters, which one has the better rating?

- Wix 51356, Beta Ratio 2/20=6/19

- Wix 51365, Beta Ratio 2/20=15/22

The only difference is the fact one is about an inch longer than the other. I have not looked yet, but assume I can use the longer one without issue.

I'm probably looking at nothing, the OCI is 3750 miles for this application.

And for a follow on question, if it was your choice, would you worry about running a slightly larger filter for this short of an OCI?

The 51356 is a finer filter. If it's also the longer one, it may explain the better numbers due to lower velocity in the same test.

No, I would not worry either way. If the longer one fits and is no more expensive, I'd use it for no other reason than it was no more expensive.

Thanks Gary.

I had suspected that was the case, but those beta ratios still elude me because I only look at them once in long while.

Ooooh, then I've been running the wrong filter on my 97 Outback...it calls for a Wix 51334, which is Beta Ratio 2/20 = 22/40. I run OCIs upwards of 10k miles on this car using this filter...it would benefit from the better filtration.

I can run the two previously mentioned filters on it as well...they are all basically the "same" filters.
