I have a Nissan 350z and was wondering which of these 2 filters would be the best choice? Wix website says I should use 51365, but the maxima uses the 51356 (same engine pretty much).

Take your pick. The 51356 appears to have slightly better filtering spec's and a higher burst strength (I never really appreciated this feature

). That assumes that there's no clearance issues.

Main difference is the '56 is taller. More media? If the taller filter does not cause fitment problems, then go for it. My sons previous car, a Sentra, spec 'd the shorter filter, but we used the taller filter.

On my sons new Subaru they now spec the shorter of two possible filters (previous models). Apparently the taller filter was too close to the exhaust system.

Subaru does not seem to be worried about the shorter filter. From what you posted, Nissan doesn't either.

The 56 will work just fine in any Nissan 2000-up. I use it on my Sentra. I don't know why Nissan uses such a super small filter. The 65 is even used on the Titan/Armanda V8.

The 56 is usually cheaper then the 65 also.
