exhaust leaks

I think it depends.

If the exhaust is in good shape, have a section welded in. If the exhaust is shot replace it.

An exhaust leaks means possible CO coming into the passenger area.

It's a long story. I don't have a leak that I can find but I want to rule it out and I'm down to putting miles on the car and seeing if anything shows up. Just wondering how long I need to wait.

None.
let it idle for 5-10 mins in below 50 deg temps, then drive normally around the block. The vapour condensate in the exhaust will collect soot and it will spurt out of any gaps or pinholes doen the cold sdr of the exhaust. In front of the cat, block the exhaust at idle for a few second and listen for hissing in the suspect area.

On first startup after I installed an offroad midpipe there appeared to be some condensation leaking down from where the over axle pipes go over the axle. It seemed to be coming from the clamps in that area but it was hard to tell - and the moisture was pretty clear. No soot visible and I've looked since then after putting some miles on the car.

This vehicle has a complete header back exhaust. Cat delete and resonator delete. It is producing a hissing sound when under load. Myself and two other people have been unable to feel a leak. I have read forum posts stating this may be a characteristic of an exhaust in this configuration. However I want to be sure about it.

So no soot showing anywhere after 50+ miles - I can rule out a leak then?

Lift the car and properly support it, have someone hold a rag over the the tail pipes(s) while you listen underneath.

You will hear it with no problem if there is a leak. try doing it without going under the car first, many times you will hear it.
You could also smoke test the exhaust from the tail pipe end, engine off.
