EVs in the hood

EV sales are typically geographically concentrated such as in California and British Columbia. Sales in British Columbia are concentrated in the lower mainland and Victoria. Elsewhere, in 90% of the province, sales are dismal, say like North Dakota.

We've got a Bolt and a couple Model 3's around here. Around town I see several Mach E's, a single e-tron, several Model S's, a couple Model X's and several model Y's. I've seen a single Taycan. No BMW's.

My daughter told me she saw a Hummer EV the other day. I've yet to see a Rivian.

Here's one for ya! I see more and more. The rarest EV arounf here is the Lucid Air. The Taycans are drop dead gorgeous. The BMWs look like BMWs.

I see this as well. Lots of Tesla in the city. Head out twenty miles away from the freeway and you don’t see hardly any.

I'm probably the example to this. The Tesla is my in town runabout and my wife's daily for work which she does work in town. If we go somewhere the whole family gets in the Tesla, but if I head out of town for work I tend to park the car somewhere and hop on a train and I may be gone for 2-3 days. It's not a matter of leaving the Tesla sitting somewhere as it's probably not appreciated by my wife to take her main mode of transportation and leave it for a few days somewhere when she really would prefer to drive it over the GTI.
 
It's funny, most people are very openly anti EV and they're all of a sudden popping up everywhere. There's now 3 Teslas on my street alone and at least another 3 or 4 in town. It's a town of 16k people. It's overwhelmingly Tesla here for electric, but there's at least one Rivian R1T that lives here or comes through constantly. I think they're just in the area because I usually see it at the local charger so I'd assume they're away from home. We're surrounded by rural areas and farms and full size trucks are by far the most popular vehicles here. I also see the occasional ID.4 and Mach-Es. I've seen a lot more Prius here lately too. All of us hipsters are taking over downtown so maybe it's just bringing new people here, not converting those already here. 😂

Seriously though it's really cool to see.
We all hate the riches until we become rich, is my take on most "hating" behaviors in humanity.
 
They are everywhere I'm my hood. Suburban CA is their domain. There is even at least 1 ev Hummer I have seen. Rivians have been around for a few months at least. Teslas everywhere.
 
My “hood” has Tesla Model X , Porsche Taycan, Lucid. All three owner by medical drs who work about 10 miles away.

Otherwise lots of F150, Yukons, MB suv and ton of Outback.
about 25 years ago, a friend of mine, a school teacher - band director, started to turn his life around, get out of debt, get organized. Dude is such a great friend! He read a book on managing money and expenses and the mindset of (not) buying stuff. One factoid he learned was that school teachers statistically entered retirement with greater savings and positioning than MDs. Another factoid, the #1 vehicle driven by people worth more than $1M at the time was, Ford F-150. BUT, not like the ones we all want. These were basic, regular cab, no frills, cloth seat, 2WD F150s. #1 vehicle driven by folks worth $1M.

funny. I knew 2 men who fit that profile. one owned that truck with an aluminum shell, and also drove a grey Saturn SC. He was a company VP, basically, prior Navy. The other, held on to the F150 when it had too many miles and commuted in either chevy’s version of a Corolla, whatever that was called, or the minivan owned by the print shop franchise he started in retirement. His was used-diaper brown, with the straight 6 and the 5MT, and he probably still has it.
