If I pay extra for olives or mushrooms, why I cannot get a decently topped pizza!

I like veggies on my pizzas, lots of them. If Subway can do it, then why can't Pizza shops get it? Even ordering extra you don't get enough.

If I pay $30 for a Large Pizza loaded with all sort of extra toppings, I don't want it to look like a Tony's frozen pizza!!!

Go to the shop and order it in person. Ask to see the pizza before they put in the oven. When I went to Subway I noticed a guy ordering a sub that said lots of veggies. Since it's made in front of you ordering it that way was easy to do. If they have a tip jar on the counter if maybe be worth putting a few bucks into it.

agree how are you ordering? online or with a human. if you explain you want a 3times the amount of veggies they will oblige.

but yes, it is also true too many veggies means a soggy or undercooked pizza that isnt as good.

I gave up on ordering extra homemade pizza sauce. Then one time they wanted to charge me an extra .75 to which I said yes. I thought then I'd get some extra, nope. Now since I don't mention it anymore and it seems like there's more sauce on it now.

I ordered a pizza with a side of some bread from dominoes this week. Guy delivered the bread and told me he gave my pizza to someone else. It was already 20 minutes late and they said it would be another 40 minutes for another and they were rude and didn't even apologize.

Couldn't agree more! Reminds me of Papa Johns, you think because you get to add 10 things to your pizza or have unlimited toppings means it will be heavily topped, not the case. Only way to get it right, is to make it yourself! Dont you have ability to get deep dish pies in IL? Now I am hungry and want to get a chicago deep dish... ugh.. thanks alot

I one time ordered ground beef on a pizza and got tiny specs of beef. I complained and they took $2 off my order.

By pizza shop do you mean chains?

I've personally given up on Pizza Hut and Papa's long ago. I used to love it as a kid, but something's changed over the years.

We have a local pizza place with awesome pizza and a huge craft beer selection that we hit once in a while. They are very generous with their toppings, BUT you pay for it too.

Time for the food police to show up.

Maybe it's just their way of telling you to stop eating so much pizza.

There's one place in town that makes the pizza crust on location and loads the pizza up with super fresh toppings, but they're very expensive at $22 + tax. A perfect example of the item you want being readily available if you're willing to fork out the dough.

There is a local place about 10 miles from us. The stop is more of a bar and grill but they have a brick pizza oven. The pizzas actually soak in some of the smoke and it tastes amazing.

Only downside is the crust can get slightly burnt (which isn't a bad thing) but to balance it out they use a slightly sweet/sour pizza sauce. It goes great with the crispy crust but it never tastes good after it cools down.

Sorry I was getting side tracked.. Anyways try a local place they tend to be more generous with toppings.

Only downside is I've had more then a few where the toppings put so much weight they and the cheese slides right off.

Are you incarcerated?

All this talk of pizza has my stomach growling but the local pizza place has started really skimping on the toppings...lol.

I can do better buying frozen pizza and adding some freshly chopped veggies.

only cause you're cheap.

The mindset of the fast food chain is to begrudge you a generous portion of pepperoni for which they pay very little per pizza given the price paid per pound for a bulk order. I have had much better luck with mom and pop shops where word of mouth is more important than TV commercials where one looks at the enhanced pizza they are shilling and thinks "yeah, right..... 7 bucks?" I've seen more pepperoni on frozen pizza from Walmart.

I used to love Little caesar's as a kid. Its garbage. I don't know if it was better back then, or I was just a kid who didn't know any better. I am thinking it always sucked, but since we were poor and there were six kids, we relished the occasional pizza delivery.

You just need to ferret out where the good pizza places are in each town. Sometimes you will pay more but, that's the price of good food. If your looking for the best bang for the buck, then you get a mediocre pizza. ed
