Any name brand will do.The filter is more important.The Napa/Wix are good filters and so is the amsoil filter.

I can say nothing bad about any Pennzoil product or Mobil 1. I've used both and believe them to be excellent oils.

I can say nothing bad about Castrol, Valvoline, Royal Purple, or Motorcraft as I have not used them so have no experience with them one way or the other.

Amsoil is overpriced

lol Everyone has their favorite owners. These days it seems that pretty much all the brand name oils are high quality. More brand preference and emotional opinions than anything else. Plus, people always have to reassure themselves that the product they purchased is better than the ones they skipped over.

You forgot I won't buy Exxon because:

All the oils currently (or will be soon) in my stash are good: M1 0W30 and 5W20, PP 5W20, PU 5W40, 5W20 and 10W30, Synpower 5W20 and 5W30.

They are good oils because I paid only $1/qt or $2/qt and the most expensive is $3.30/qt for PU 5W20.

I have no bad thing to say about these brands when it costs me so little and can be used for 12-13k miles OCI's in my E430.

I would be okay running virtually any off the shelf oil at wal-mart or autozone etc. with the exception of perhaps accel. I tend to run the same brand from change to change, i don't know why i just do. I am slowly moving away from the mobil as i don't care for the Q@A they provided. I may use more pennzoil if they would only make some 0w oils. Either way i could sleep with any of the major brands even supertech as long as i had a good filter. The cheapest conventional oil today is probably better than the most expensive conventional oil from 20 years ago.

I use all different brands. It's more about unique products, like GC, 0w-40, HD oils, HM oils, spec oils...and I like a good bargain.

I can't say anything bad about pennzoil platinum.
It routinely goes on sale for less than half of what M1 sells for in these parts, it SEEMS to produce good UOA for the most part, its readily available..

For the price/performance I think its just fine

Oh and it seems to have a pretty good additive package too.
