FWIW - At least the 10w30 syn-blend motor oil they offer looks like decent stuff, at least based on the numbers shown HERE. Nice dose of Boron, and some Moly. TBN is 8.18 and NOACK is just a hair over 9.

This product is not strictly a dealer item. As i previously said .

I AM NOT ENDORSING OR PROMOTING OUR PRODUCT.
HOWEVER I AM KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THIS PRODUCT I CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

Everest... Id bet...

Which was tested by PQIA... And was just fine oil. I bet it's actually blended by Warren Distribution or Warren Oil.... Or possibly Omni or Amalie..

Probably just the Everest, but since he pointed out they license several brands, i didn't know if he was just representing Everest.

I noticed that a couple of the brand names are listed on the Everest website.
I think it's a pretty fair bet that oils with the same dexos license numbers are basically the same and probably come from the same tanks...I don't think I checked for 0W20, but I did see that 5W30 Supertech, amazonbasics, and MAG 1 synthetics share a d1G2 license # (the last is Warren's house brand).

PIM TAC

I have corresponded with Wayne.
As I have previously mentioned.

I AM NOT ENDORSING OR PROMOTING. i'M MERELY SHARING FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE ON SOMETHING THAT YOU GUY SEEM TO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT.
WITH NO DEFINITIVE ANSWERS..

Well well.... How about that .... It is true.... A stand alone place. That does their own work.

I am impressed.

I will say though that your Golden Stallion oil and Everest carry the same exact Dexos1 Gen 2 approved oil numbers... Which is fine. Same oil different bottle.

I would run the oil made by your company if it was in my area. I have run Smitty's Supply oil in my car and it was just fine. So, I would have no problem running these oil from Global...

Why did Wal-Mart introduce a new line of motor oil (Prime) at Sam's Club that isn't Supertech?

Oil Snobbery. Above "Sam's Choice" or even "Member's Mark" or is it?

Hi Edgar,

Welcome and thank you for your offer.

I do have a question.

Everest produces a number of full synthetic oils that are SN and GF-5, these being 0W20, 0W30, 5W20, 5W30, 10W30.
According to your spec data sheets, they all have a TBN of 7.9 and Phosphorus of 0.08 wt%.

Has this group of oils been developed as part of a "development matrix" so they all have the same DI (Detergent Inhibitor) package ?
This is a term I learnt from an oil formulator here, which means they develop one DI package that is suitable for use in all the oils (for efficiency and simplicity of production). This is separate from the VM (viscosity modifier) package which would change for each viscosity grade.

I assume they all use the same quality base oils?
Yes the the actual mix of light to heavy base stock would change depending on the final viscosity required, but do they all use the same Group base stock from the same supplier? (No need to name who, just the general concept).

The point I am interested in is, the 5W30 is Dexos1-Gen2 approved, but the 10W30 is not. Now I know dexos does not allow 10W30 as a grade, and that dexos requires certain low temperature ability. But if we exclude low temperature performance and forbidden viscosity grades, would you expect the non-dexos 10W30 when used in a warm environment to perform similarly to the dexos 5W30 in a regular engine?

I'm asking just out of curiosity. My belief is with companies using a matrix development approach, we actually have warm climate Dexos1 10W30 oils available to us in quality, but not in name / licence / label.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

BTW I also accept that the 0W20 and 0W30 may use some PAO while the 5W20, 5W30, 10W30 may use only Group III (or something like that), but with your Dexos products being 5W30 and 0W20 (only), the general question still stands about the other grades.

Thanks !!!
