I need to lubricate my ETEC outboard bendix on the starter. It’s not popping up to engage the flywheel when I turn the key all the time. I’m reading not to use something like WD40. What grease or spray would work? I’m something I can source local would be nice.

i would use some graphite spray lube personally.

Back when I was young and handsome I used to use LPS1 on the Teledyne rocket motors during assembly. It was used to combat any form of moisture or corrosion caused from sitting around waiting for some place to fly to. It carries all sorts of certifications and fancy material specifications and even includes something for Ford Motor Company. I never looked it up so I'm only repeating what I read on the can.

So, drop $15 on some LPS1 greaseless lubricant and sore with the eagles.
