Engine oil flushes?

I have been watching a lot of vids on a brand of oil flush - it claims to clean all of the old oil off and clean the engine, just add to engine oil and let idle for 10-15 minutes. If this is the case, wont that do more hatm when starting afterthe oil change is complete?

Oil flushes are not needed.
Oil is an excellent "flush" fluid.
If you have issues, change the oil, then change it again in a few hundred miles.

Don't do it.

Use a long term cleaner and gradually collect whatever is is you want to clean.

I have zero intentions of doing this - I just wondered how much damage these flushes can do.

A flush could loosen up larger sludge that could plug galleries among other things. A slower cleaning is preferred.

Is the product you watched on those videos blue, like inside my toilet? Good stuff and lasts a long time..... many flushes.

I have found the best flushes for a semi-clean engine is either no flush at all, or a couple shortened OCIs.... say.... half-the-length of your normal one.

1) Consider the viscosity of the "Flush." It's about 1.5 cSt and just a little thicker than water. What does this do to the viscosity of your old motor oil?

2) They contain aromatic solvents with a bit of naphthenic oil to soften and disperse carbon and sludge.

3) If you have purchased a car with an unknown service record, it would be best to drop the engine's sump pan and clean the sludge from the pan and pickup screen before using this kind of product. Frequent filter changes are necessary after using a flush since an increased load of dispersed carbon and sludge will be present.

4) If your car has had oil and filter changes commensurate with your Owners Manual for the type of driving you do, these products are not necessary.
