ON, Canada eh?
So I was at Walmart tonight for something to do and I strolled over the the Auto Isle as I always do and I noticed that all Energizer Batteries seem to be made by Johnson Controls as they all look like one of their batteries and then I found fine writing on the display that confirmed it and I thought I would post it here.

Good to know.

For those who can't read it because it is too small and because I couldn't take a picture of all the writing at the bottom it says this...

Quote:

Energizer and Eveready are registered trademarks of Eveready Battery Company Inc. and used under license by Johnson Controls Battery Group Inc.

IIRC that's the EverStart Maxx with a different label. I believe the northern US Wal-Mart batteries are made by Johnson Controls also.

It's just nice to know that us Canadian Folk with our limited access to Automotive goodies can get quality like J.C. and not just Exide garbage.

I like Interstate and they have never steered me wrong but it's good to know about a second option should Interstate go south or I need a battery in a pinch.

I currently have an Energizer in my partners Cabriolet. I was pressed for a battery one night and couldn't get to an Interstate dealer.

It seems to be holding up very well.

I'm really not in love with Johnson Controls, but yes all the Energizers sold here at Sams Club are made by them. The made in Milwaukee is a dead giveaway.

To be honest, though, they have a stranglehold on the industry. Even the Optima batteries are made by them now.

All the Wal-Mart automotive batteries here these days are made by Exide of Alpharetta, GA.

I would take an automotive battery made by Johnson Controls over an Exide any day.

I hope we have them here....

Here the Energizer I bought for the Cabriolet was $115 all in. It's a big arse battery (older car) with 865CCA and it came with a 9yr warranty (prorated) and 3 years straight exchange with Towing assistance.

thats a pretty good warranty. I know I can get a Kirkland signature JC battery for 75 bucks with the 2 year replacement warranty. I'll have to check how much that energizer costs here in the US.

I've got Energizer batteries in both of our cars, I bought them both from Walmart. I've used these batteries in all of my cars for the past 15 years or so and have had great luck with them. I like that they've got more cold cranking amps than other batteries sold up here too.

I always liked Wallys batteries because Wally World is everywhere and if I am in B.F.E. there is bound to be a Wally where I can exchange my battery.

For a standard group 75 GM battery, the prices range from $47 for a 1 year warranty, all the way up to 65 or 70 for the 3 year warranty.

I picked the cheap one.

Here in NY, Walmart sells under the private label "Everstart", and Sams club sells under the label "Energizer". The batteries at Sams are about 20 dollars more, but give a longer warranty.

I have had one of those Energizers in my vehicle since June with good results.

If I spend the winter up north talk to me in the spring about how the Energizer faired through the winter.

My partner came by as dusk and he left the lights on... I didn't see it because he came in and then we went to the basement to watch some episodes of a series we are watching on DVD.

4 Hours later we came up and we noticed his lights were on. ('89 Cabriolet) and so I went out, cranked the engine over and it started no problem (not even slow).

That's some JC battery. I don't care if they label is "Energizer" or not... It keeps going, and going like the bunny says.

The Johnson Controls website says that they make EverStart MAXX 94R battery for my Golf, and I bought one at Walmart. But you are at least the 2nd person I know who says their Walmart battery is an Exide and not made by JC.

I'm resurrecting this thread because there is no need to start a new one.

I just purchased a new battery for the KIA this weekend at Sams Club. The Energizer batteries they sell there are still made by JCI. I was going to get an Interstate because I have always had good luck with those, but it was hard to argue the price at Sams, for what is essentially the same battery.

Interstate: 138.95 MSRP 700CCA 875CA 3 year full replacement
Die Hard: 109.95 MSRP 660CCA ?CA 18 month full replacement
Energizer: 69.78 retail 770CCA 875CA 3 year full replacement
