This Eneos Model S fluid is basically the same price asd the real deal Subaru fluid. I'd run the OEM stuff.
Mystery fluid? ATF??I should also add that my 2012 Legacy had used CVT installed when I bought it. When I eventually got it home after getting it road worthy, I noticed an oil leak in the driveway. Upon investigation, I determined that it must have been the CVT input shaft seal that was leaking because the fluid was red and not the green variant recommended by Subaru. I started by correcting the fluid level (overfilled) and the leak disappeared. 31k kms later, the CVT is still going strong with the "wrong" fluid. I probably should have dropped the pan, just to have a look, at the last engine oil change.
This is the most sensible contribution in this thread. And it could be that Idemitsu has simply not updated their labelling as well.
Eneos did not state they retested type S to warrant the inclusion of the -iii transmission.
Anytime a multivehicle ATF blender has added another transmission to their list is because the additive maker has tested this fluid in the additional hardware and has passed on the new compatibility to the blender.
Rotella bath beads?I’m not going to argue with you about Subaru experience or professional technician experience. Those that know me here know my contributions about Subarus and my dealership experience. My first Subaru was purchased in 1979 and I’ve never looked back. Have owned at least one ever since, usually multiple.

It could be Valvoline MaxLife ATF/CVT or Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT, those are both red.Not sure what fluid was used by the transmission shop @Pablo, but it's not green. Most likely they would have used the cheapest fluid they could find.
They sell those over at the wrx forum. Required for Bro status!Rotella bath beads?
Wait - so, AMSOIL being willing to warranty the performance of their fluid - is proof that it doesn’t work?It does matter - using a non OEM compatible fluid is more problematic than one that is.
If it didn’t matter, Amsoil wouldnt stand behind their product with a warranty for vehicles they claim their fluid is compatible with.
Wait - so, AMSOIL being willing to warranty the performance of their fluid - is proof that it doesn’t work?
That’s the most backward argument I can imagine.
If they knew it didn’t work - they wouldn’t sell it. Nobody is going to sell something they know fails and then warranty it. That’s business suicide. Just silly.
They are willing to warranty the performance of their fluid because the fluid does, in fact, perform well.
So, it is OEM compatible.
My comprehension is just fine - you cannot complain about other people criticizing you and then impugn another’s comprehension without coming across as a hypocrite. There’s a nasty habit among some users here of putting words in peoples mouths. I never said Amsoil doesn’t work, did I? Nope.
Of course it works, it’s a high quality lubricant company and I’m glad they exist. I simply stated that for me, I don’t believe that a multi vehicle fluid is as optimal for my unique Subaru transmission (which like it or not, is substantially different from other CVTs on the market) versus a Subaru oriented and OEM mimicking aftermarket fluid like the Eneos Import Model S.
Reading comprehension would save a lot of arguments. Half the attack responses in this thread are because people didn’t read slow and then put words in my mouth, which isn’t appreciated.
lol. Projection. Please quote where you believe I claimed Amsoil is not OEM compatible because they offer a warranty. I’ll wait.My comprehension is just fine - you cannot complain about other people criticizing you and then impugn another’s comprehension without coming across as a hypocrite.
Which you just did.
People aren’t attacking you - they disagree with your point.
But going after my reading comprehension, is, in fact, a personal attack. You are engaging in the very behaviour about which your were complaining.
Either way, your point was silly - you claim that AMSOIL isn’t OEM compatible because they warranty it. I almost spit out my morning coffee on that one.
