Zee09. Thank you for another great C & P. Pictures are outstanding. I may start using these filters for my 2010 Mercury G. M. I just used my last NAPA Gold filter this morning. Irishman

Premium Guard made economy sub brand. Excellent entry level filter and a steal at some of the online prices that show up. If I were still pinching pennies I'd be happy to use these.

At regular retail you can get a full-blown Premium Guard synthetic blend with the silicone ADBV and gasket for not much more.

I never saw the value in the $10 PG synthetic when the real Fram Ultras were under $9

If so inclined, you can get PG synthetics at Advance for 7-ish as Carquest Premiums, even less if you bother to do the online discount and pick it up. Which is why paying 6 for an EcoGuard doesn't make a lot of sense. But the two buck deal, smokin'.

I paid that years ago...like $2.50
But I did use the PG syn on my Mitsubishi and it was pretty cheap then but the old Ultras were my go to

Looks really good! Efficiency could be better, but compared to a lot of jobber level filters (Puro Tech, Fram Core, etc.) it looks pretty solid. I have TONS of 7317 size filters on hand, or I would pick up a few.

And no excess glue to be found.
No rust.. and no debris...
And cheap...
Agree on the construction points. Though you grabbed one of the 7 good ones out of a case of 48 :)

Filter paper is an unknown entity. Do they source it from a reputable manufacturer?

I say this as I have had Thailand sourced filters in the past that didn't flow adequately to lube my Toyotas and Suzuki. And that was a proven fact not some fantasy.

Country of Origin is a no go. If I had to pay $30 for a filter it wouldn't bother my savings account one bit.
For those in the lube business, well, that part is a cost containment possibility.
Hold this possibility over your supplier as a pricing cudgel

Most everything is crap or counterfeit these days anyway.
Almost to the point you need to go oem sourced from your local dealer.

And I buy to cut and I am no fan of China at all but they are doing filters better than most. That's a disgrace..
Note USA Briggs cp here...

I would still love to design and market a cartridge loader adapter canister for the "Universal Asian filter** size spin-on. It would use an existing quality filter cartridge,

Then no cut and post needed any longer; plus, you get to easily examine the media/cartridge before and after use.

I don't have solidworks on my home desktop, so no cad/cam possibility, but a readable pencil sketch has worked with good machinists many times in the past if it approximates ASMEY14.

I agree...no guessing anymore.
And the real joke is the counterfeit filters just may be higher quality than the real ones...sad...
