Picked up a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with the 2.0 turbo engine recently. The Carfax and windshield sticker showed the oil was last changed at 36,643 miles on October 5th.

There were roughly 1,250 miles since that oil change, but the oil level was reading well above the full level on the dipstick. There are several reports on the JL Wrangler forums of quick lube places overfilling the 2.0 engines with 6 quarts. The current 2.0T takes 5 quarts, but previous V6 versions of the Wrangler had a larger sump than the current ones.

I didn’t like the idea of it being overfilled, so I changed the oil. I pulled an oil sample via the dipstick and will be sending it in for analysis to see if there is coolant or fuel contamination. I had to add some coolant to the reservoir, but the oil did not look milky.

Here’s a C&P of the filter. I was surprised at the amount of grit in the bottom. It’s possible the filter was run for more than one interval. I have no idea what oil brand/weight was in there.

I measured the oil that drained out by pouring it back into the empty 5 quart container the new oil came it. There was an additional ½ to ¾ quart of oil remaining after I filled up the old container.

Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 and an STP Extended Life oil filter went back in/on. I also installed a Votex magnetic oil drain plug.

I put 5 quarts of Valvoline Restore and Protect back in and the level on the dipstick is now perfect. It reads right at the full mark.
