This probably has more to do with the chain and oiler than the adjuster. Stihl chain is pre-stretched and doesn't stretch as much in use compared to Oregon and most others. The oilers on most saws are also not setup to put out as much oil as the older saws due to environmental concerns, on a pro saw you can adjust the oiler to put out more on a homeowner saw they are fixed.

I see. Yeah I think Oregon is what they use on the echo saws. I've just never used anything but an echo saw, so I wasn't sure if it was normal or not.

I find that Oregon chains for the smaller saws are soft, they sharpen fast, and dull fast. Some of the bigger commercial chains may be better, but i only buy Stihl, Husky, or Carlton chain.

I have the Echo CS-370 and it's a little beast for a 16" saw. I've used it on 8"-10" pine and a 20" cherry tree. It pulls decent with the factory LP chain, but once it wears out I'll be going with an Oregon 91vxl. And it has a 5 year homeowners warranty on it as most or all Echos do. But I have to admit that Timber Wolf looks awful sweet! Just mak sure the carb is adjusted properly no matter which saw you go with. They are pretty much set too lean from the factory.

Like everyone, Oregon makes different levels of quality.

Everyone does - you CAN *NOT* compare a homeowner level Stihl saw to a Pro Stihl saw - no comparison.

Same with Husqvarna. Their low-end stuff is Poulan, for Pete's sake.

Oregon makes chain that's all over the quality spectrum. The 3/8 LP stuff they supply to Ryobi & Poulan is garbage........ but the Husqvarna chain you just praised is also made by Oregon.

I didn't know husky chains were made by Oregon. Good to know. Perhaps Husqvarna does have a higher spec for Orgeon in order to put their name on it. I have never had a soft Husqvarna chain.

I agree the lp anti-kick back stuff is junk. I may give them one more try with a chain for my husky 390. I may try a loop of LGX. I have some big dry oak to cut, probably 19 inches diameter. Big dry oak logs will eat a chain.

Agreed, If I have to cut Oak or Pecan - I only use Stihl or Carlton chain.

Thanks for the info on husky/oregon. I did order an oregon LGX since i needed another loop for the new saw, i'll try it on the old oak.
