Seems a bit odd, doesn't it? Just 80 miles.

And then the seller mentions that it had been wrecked, maybe on a test drive, or something...

Then take a look at the free AutoCheck report that is provided by eBay, and you'll see that the Avalanche was a previous NHTSA CRASH TEST VEHICLE...

That explains the 80 miles and then the extensive repairs that it needed.

What was the saying about fools and their money...?

$17K???? I wouldnt give him $1700 nevermind $17,000. I love the description how he plays dumb "oh it may have been wrecked on a test drive... He knows darn well that it was a crash test vehicle. Nothing like the power of omission lol

WOW! I see so many things wrong with that truck. Sad thing is someone will buy it and have tons of problems with it and blame GM for the [censored] truck. In one picture you can see the roof buckle dents buy the roof rack. The firewall is messed up, and the job of completely replacing a frame is labor intensive and not to be trusted to just anyone. The radio issue he talks about is probably much more than just the radio. Probably wiring and BCM issues.

Awful! I did not not that a crash tested truck (if it is) could be allowed into the public's hands. It must not be a NHTS crash test vehicle because they are usually really tore up. But no matter - this truck is to be avoided...and at 17+k he is smoking some good stuff!
 
I am trying to figure out how a truck with 80 miles on it has cigarette burns on the headliner!
 
According to the NHTSA, this Avalanche was known as Test vehicle number "M30100".

It also states that they are for salvage only, and are not to be retitled for use on the road.

"When these vehicles are no longer needed for evaluation purposes, they are made available for sale to the public by the General Services Administration. Because of the nature of the destructive testing, each of these vehicles is sold for "salvage" only, with the transfer document bearing the restriction that the vehicle is not to be titled for use on the road."

Its probably a used headliner from another vehicle.

Who knows how many parts on this truck came from other vehicles.

The yellow firewall and grill surround are easy signs of problems.
 
I don't see what the issue is with this listing....

The is seller is upfront and honest about what is up wit the vehicle...it's stated in 3-4 places that this is a slavage vehicle with no warranty...

Yet everyone on here is making it out like this is a scam....

It is a scam, and what the seller has done is illegal.

National Highway Transportation Safety Administration crash test vehicles are NOT to be repaired and are NOT to be put back on the road. I included it in a previous posting.

And the seller has done exactly that. He repaired it so that it could be put back on the road.

Maybe you should go back and take another look...

If you could get it for cheap enough and you had a similar vehicle or maybe a project, it'd probably make a good parts vehicle.

GM is not responsible for what happens to the vehicle. The NHTSA bought the truck from GM, the same way any regular person would buy a vehicle from GM. It's up to the NHTSA to make sure the truck is disposed of properly.

100% true. Good clarification for him.
 
A few years back, I would see a bunch of of the new body style impala's and malibu's on ebay.

They would have a large dent right in the corner of the front bumper.

They were all crash vehicles that were used to simulate low speed collisions.

Some would have a similar dent on the rear bumper. They all went for good money, I bet most people just drove it with the large dent in both sides.
