I just started drinking tea as well, primarily as a replacement for soft drinks and energy drinks in the morning and late afternoon.
When I first started drinking, I had to push through because it all tasted like slightly flavored hot water. My taster was so shot from overly-sweetened drinks that I couldn't tell a bit of difference between two different black teas. I still sweeten my tea a bit, usually two cubes, though I bump that to four cubes for some of the more robust blends.
My afternoon tea has been Earl Grey, typically Twinings or Bigelow. However, I have found that I like Twinings Lady Grey a bit more and will likely stick strictly to that. If you like Early Grey, I'd suggest giving Lady Grey a shot. It has more citrus than Earl Grey and is a bit more mellow. It takes well to sweetener too.
My favorite tea thus far is Celestial Sleepytime Vanilla. It is a chamomile tea and caffeine free. Completely different from any black tea, I drink it after dinner (hence, the "sleepytime").
