Well I'm starting to acquire a taste for this stuff. I've been drinking Red Rose Earl Grey and I don't think its too bad. Anyone have an suggestions for a really good tea? Any of our friends across the pond perhaps??

I just started drinking tea as well, primarily as a replacement for soft drinks and energy drinks in the morning and late afternoon.

When I first started drinking, I had to push through because it all tasted like slightly flavored hot water. My taster was so shot from overly-sweetened drinks that I couldn't tell a bit of difference between two different black teas. I still sweeten my tea a bit, usually two cubes, though I bump that to four cubes for some of the more robust blends.

My afternoon tea has been Earl Grey, typically Twinings or Bigelow. However, I have found that I like Twinings Lady Grey a bit more and will likely stick strictly to that. If you like Early Grey, I'd suggest giving Lady Grey a shot. It has more citrus than Earl Grey and is a bit more mellow. It takes well to sweetener too.

My favorite tea thus far is Celestial Sleepytime Vanilla. It is a chamomile tea and caffeine free. Completely different from any black tea, I drink it after dinner (hence, the "sleepytime").

This is the good stuff. These guys have good quality all the way to super premium teas. You pay a little more for the excellent quality but it is genuinely the good stuff - fresh, no [censored], excellent shipping etc. I have no connect or interest in this business - just a satisfied customer. The only downside is that once you get used to high quality tea it is tough to drink the regular swill.

I prefer cheap tea to all but the high end coffees.

Big thing for me..
Brew it at the right temp.

180-195 degree water is Soooo much better than boiling.

Cheaper teas have chaff that's gross.

Community coffee's English breakfast tea has strong notes of vanilla and peppermint with a strong bite at first.

Definitely my favorite...even though its CHEAP

I also drink junk luzianme green tea mixed with a few bags per gallon of river road black tea. Unsweetened
Drink a gallon or so a day and you'll feel ten times better by the end of the week. Don't know why.

Probably from the caffeine? 1 cup of tea has 30-50 mg of caffeine depending on the type. 1 gallon would have somewhere between 480-800 mg of caffeine.

on across the pond front try Fortnum & Mason, they used to have a USA site, but it is not operational now. Local Williams Sonoma stores have it, link to their web catalogue

Don't spoil your taste with tea-bags. Twinings is a budget tea, so is Ahmad, both are OK

Both decaf. And I brew my iced tea a little weak. So probably 200 a gallon.

Teabags are disappointing though compared to loose. Nowhere close to get it though...

Last year I got into tea's pretty seriously. Besides water, tea is the most often drunk beverage in the world. Although there are multiple regions tea is grown in the world apparently they all come from the genius of bush.

Loose tea is truly the ONLY way to enjoy good tea. Yes, sounds snobbish and I guess it is. But it's true.

White tea is good and soft on the palate but oolong is my favorite. Green is good but white and oolong my favorites. Buy online and in bulk to keep the price down. Mall stores are insanely costly.

Don't be fooled by believing green tea is the super tea. Green tea is merely the only type of tea that has undergone extensive studies. It is widely believed white and oolong especially are just as healthy if nor more as there is less processing of the leaves and it is widely believed even black teas have a lot of health potential to them as well.

Speaking of decaf...

the caffeine is reputedly quite volatile, and comes out quickly in the brewing process, much earlier than properly steeped tea...

If in the mood, or feeling like a cuppa too close to bedtime, I'll put about 1/4 cup of water in a cup, drop the teabag in, fill a second cup, then remove the bag from the first, squeeze lightly, and then put in the full cup and brew.

Beats tea treated with ethyl acetate

That's interesting. Never thought of that.
