Re: rotors, iron is iron. A minute or two of careful measuring and inspection will check the machining and quality. Many here mistake a PAD issue for a rotor problem...

Re: rotors, iron is iron. A minute or two of careful measuring and inspection will check the machining and quality. Many here mistake a PAD issue for a rotor problem...

I generally agree with you, but in this case it does appear to be a rotor issue.

I generally agree with you, but in this case it does appear to be a rotor issue.

I might be OK with Duralast battery, since I do know it's probably made by JC, Exide, etc. But most of the other stuff, not so much.

Does the video have bias? Maybe. But a new, cheap rotor shown in the video can meet measurement specs and a tech would be comfortable installing it.

There is a difference even among China rotors. There's a difference between a Duralast or other housbrand white box part and say an ACDelco, Raybestos or Wagner Chinese manufactured rotor.
There is a difference between iron casting metallurgy, quality control and also rotor casting thickness and vane and hat contruction. Low quailty Chinese castings can even screw this up. Then there's balancing and machining. I'd say most brake problems really are rotor run out problems. It's very hard to tell. You would need a dial indicator and you are looking for less than .002 total indicated run out. But the rotor itself needs closer to .001. It's not all that easy to measure and detect for most installers. Leave alone balancing.

When you're the only source you're the best! The worst rotors also come from China. I don't think any are wholly made in USA or Canada now. Better OE ones come from Mexico.

I just put a set of Bendix I got from Rock Auto on my Durango about three months ago. It was not the Bendix Global but the next one up. The box said they were made in Canada.

All is well with my Mexican Brembo's.
I was lucky enough to have a bunch of open road for some bedding in procedures. After 3 hard slow downs from 70 to 20, 55 to 15 and 45 to 15, I did not have to use the brakes for a few miles, and when I did tap them they grabbed harder than ever.
That feeling has not returned, But they grab as good as the duralasts ever did.
China is capable of manufacturing quality, the issue is one never knows which products do, which ones once did, and what you are getting.
I'd gladly pay more for quality, but it seems so many times you pay extra for a name on the box and the product inside is the same as the one in the bottom of the barrel box.

Many OEM rotors don't come from China. Also, not made in China does not mean made right.
My mom's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped much more smoothly when the OEM Canada rotors were replaced with Raybestos premium from China.

I agree that it's a hit or miss. I had Brembo blanks on my 07 Honda Civic Si, which was driven very hard on the street. Rode perfectly.
Installed Brembo blanks on my 07 Honda Civic EX, which is driven normally and within a few thousand miles, the steering wheel is shacking.
Both times the rotors were ordered from Tirerack. Not sure if one set is China made while the first set was made elsewhere but that's the facts.
I will be replacing said rotors soon. Can't stand when the steering wheel shakes.
