Duracell Batteries?

Has anyone tried this battery? (Brand, I mean)

I was at the local Meijer's and noticed them for the first time. (price is not bad-100 bucks) I noticed they were made by East Penn (deka), so they should be a good battery.


Something about having a "copper top" under the hood sounds cool...

What group size do you need? Many times certain sizes are OK and others are not so OK. Deka is probably most well known for their deep-cycle batteries, which are much different than starter batteries. High quality with one type doesn't necessarily translate to high quality with another, since the batteries see much different environments.

100 bucks isn't cheap. Better have a 3+year free replacement, 8 year pro-rate for that kind of money.

Deka seems popular here but I wonder if it's just the new name means the dud units in service haven't popped up yet.

Everstart Maxx at Walmart is $75 for all sizes, it has 3 years free replacement and 8 years pro-rate . I checked few local Walmart's and all Everstart Maxx batteries are distributed by Johnson Controls.

Nope, never seen Duracell car batteries.

And well....I'd be curious about the whole "copper top" deal in a car battery

I don't think that would quite apply.....or be possible, unless the terminals were copper? lol.

Though I do have the best success with Duracell batteries over all (AA, AAA, D, C, etc.).

I think I recall seeing a energizer car battery as well, I doubt the Duracell is anything special, it's just another subcontracted product used to make money off a name brand. I have had good luck with batteries all around, a little research before purchasing and it always comes pretty much with the same varying opinions. I shoot for mid price when buying a battery.

Actually, I think it does. It's the basically Meijer's top battery. (They have their own brand starting at 57 bucks).


I've had very good luck with Deka batteries..my first car had a deka that lasted for 8 years....only battery that the wife's Neon didn't destroy was a Deka....

The only issue I issue I have with the Everstart batteries is the sheer number I see of them at the local shops "junk" pile. I've been told that they don't take abuse very well.


While they might be good for a bitoger, I'm not sure how long one would last in a hands of a person like my brother....

Yep, they used to be here...I think the wal marts in Canada carry them now.
