OK FOLKS HERE'S THE SCOOP.

It's a no go and here's why.....................

The seat base is way too short and not high enough so zero thigh support. About halfway through the test drive my legs began to ache and I knew the outcome. When we returned to the dealership I sat in the Accord for comparison and it was like night and day. It was like a favorite chair as opposed to one you could barely sit in. I traded in a new & paid for 2003 Corolla in about six months (on the Accord) for the same reason. I wasn't going through that again.
Rear seat was totally useless except for small children....don't got none, don't want none. Figured that out already since it's a compact, no biggie.

On the plus side...........

*Handled like a slot car.

*Major go anywhere in any gear at any time.

*Enough torque to take off in 2nd or even 3rd with no chatter or vibration or smelly clutch slippage.

*Bad roads were not gut wrenching, suspension stiff but not over the top. Just very taut overall.

*Pass someone right now in 6th gear above 35 MPH, just awesome in that respect with A/C on 100% of the time.

*Not a great test (temps 75) but A/C seemed up to the task.

In short: had the seat fit me (in the bottom section) I would have bought the car but not from those folks. Didn't like them one friggin bit. Useless lying bastids, and they thought I had no clue. I've had more time in commission only sales than these pups have had birthdays so we didn't get along well. No honor, no integrity whatsoever and it didn't take long to figure it out. None of that matters though 'cause if your arse doesn't fit the seat then what good is the car?

That's the way it stands for now. Perhaps this will help someone else.

Hmm, testing the A/C in winter... here you would have tested if the heat worked properly :)

Every single review and impression I've heard or read about the MS3 seems to conclude that it's a great car, but just not quite finished somehow. There's always a long list of emphatically positive remarks, followed by one or two small but critical gripes.

[censored] shame. I still smile whenever I see one around. It's just too endearing to dislike.

Either way, congrats on the new car!

Sometimes I'm glad I'm small! At only 5'10", I could comfortably fit four of me in my Mazda3 hatchback for a long road trip.

Tried to find auto upholstery shops that would remake the seat cushion to fit me. Most didn't want to deal with it due to the airbags in the seatback. The few that were willing to do the work wanted a king's ransom. As much as I am enamored with this little screamer I guess it wasn't meant for me.

Thanks but I didn't buy it as explained in the first thread.

Try a highway pull starting in 3rd gear... you'll fall in love. The engine is boost limited in 1st & 2nd to control torque steer. 3rd gear is money. I think the MS3 or the Cobalt SS/TC are the 2 best bangs-for-your-buck cars on the market.

I drove and was going to buy a speed3 a year or so ago. An absoulte thrill ride. I'd still like to get one. I didn't notice much negative about the car other than the small back seat and a little torque steer. I would be the owner of that car today if the dealer hadn't tried to jack me around. They raised the price $2000 from our agreed price when it came time to sign everything. I waited 9 months for that car to arrive. I'm 46 and have been around the block a few times and those d*****bags treated me like I was a 16 year old kid. Haven't been to another Mazda dealership since. I will most likely buy one used from an older owner. I'm patient and will eventually find one that I want.

I drove one that belongs to a friend of mine.

Very smooth power from idle to redline in any gear and decent handling.

The ONLY complaint I had was too little spacing between brake and accelerator. My shoe size is 13M, though.

I wear a 12 and had no problem with the pedal spacing. If only that seat cushion had been longer and thicker.....
