I need some help folks. My 2012 Ram has a weird sound in the driveline. I was pretty sure it was the front driveshaft u-joint to the transfer case. I removed the front driveshaft, but the truck is still making noise. I certainly is a mystery to me. I'm now wondering if it is the carrier bearing in the rear driveshaft. Any advise or ideas would be great. The noise is coming from under the truck but is difficult to locate. It only happens above 20MPH so difficult to diagnose.

You're gonna half to fix your link.

I chased driveline noise for 2 years and couldn’t find it until I ran the car in gear with the wheels all in the air and walked around. All this sound from the rear was being carried forward somehow through the chassis. Was plainly obvious outside.

sorry, link fixed.
Am I hearing a diesel also? Couldn't make out badging. If this is a CTD that makes for some crappy acoustics over a video over my phone speaker.

Are we to be focusing on the constant whoosh or the clicking clack?

Yes it is a 2500 CTD.

I guess you could call it the whooshing. I think it is the carrier bearing on the 2 piece driveshaft. The noise comes from what seems like the mid underside of the truck.

It hard to hear anything over the sound of the diesel and driving over the expansion strips in the concrete.

This is something that requires someone to be there, actually driving the truck and looking it over.

Is there play in the carrier? Check in N with wheels chocked.

Try spraying a bunch of penetrant in there. Does the noise change?
