You sure it is only 6300lbs? Is that dry?
I tow a 32 footer that is 7300ish to 7500ish loaded. My complete setup is 14100. I tow 60-65 in OD on the highway 2100ish to 2500ish RPM 6.0/4L80E. Maybe you have 3.73s. I have 4.10s
Yes, 6300 is the dry empty weight, so yes, its more loaded. I have a 6L90 and 3.73's. It has a manual gear control so I hold it in 4th which is just under 1:1. I don't use the two overdrive gears when towing because the transmission will hunt to the lower gears every time I hit a grade or headwind. On dead level with no wind I can put it into the top overdrive and it will rev at somewhere around 2800 RPM if I recall. I have LT 265 70 R16's. Peak torque is at somewhere above 4000 rpm (can't recall right now). The engine is made to rev so I don't worry too much about being above 3000 RPM, but yes, it would be great to have a bit more torque.
