Driving the wife's 16 rogue home from the playground with my son the vehicle started revving high and not accelerating like normal. Kind of shutters as well. It's driveable but just barely. P0841 is the only code showing. Reads something about section A of transmission/CVT fluid sensor. I've done numerous drain and fills in the 80,000 miles we've owned it, using either idemitsu or beck arnley NS3 fluid. Vehicle has no dipstick but always measured amount drained out and put the same capacity back in, About 4 qts every time. Not much on the internet about possible fixes other than replace CVT. Wondering if anyone has experience or success defeating this possible demise of an important vehicle in my stable. Thank you all.

Car manufacturers are going to continue to sell us junk like this until they find out you stop buying it!
Nissan extended the CVT warranty on these to 7 years/84,000 whichever comes first but unfortunately neither helps me here. I've driven numerous nissans to over 100,000 miles with no issues till this one. I'm devastated to say the least.

It could be a valve body problem or a problem with this pressure sensor. You'd have to drop the pan and check for metal contamination first. I believe the Nissan Factory Service manual may suggest you drop the valve body and check the sheaves for signs of scuffing as well.

This is the whole rabbit hole situation you'll run into today with modern day transmissions, not just CVTs. Your average shop doesn't have the skills and resources to troubleshoot them. They can only pull and replace.

This is a shame too because you kept up on fluid maintenance on this unit.

Not the same as your trsnsmission, but I've had the pan off the Jatco re0f08b (jf009e) transmissions more times than I can count. I've had the filters, warmer "pumpkin" and valve-bodies out, apart, cleaned and reinstalled. Did a tranny swap, etc.

What I've learned about this tranny is that the fluid and magnets need to be kept clean, the fluid needs to be kept cool (under 90C) and that goes against the warmer circuit that is installed. There is a transmission cooler option for some models and it's definitely worth having but can be expensive from the dealer.

The TCU needs to be kept up to date, you can check the serial number on the nissan-techinfo website. The serial number is on the TCU but can also be retrieved using the CVTz50 app. I use the app daily to monitor CVT fluid temp and various other PIDs.

The Amsoil CVT fluid is cheaper than NS2/3 from the dealer and offers some extra protection. I basically do a pan-drop fluid change once a year (4-qts) to clean the magnets and inspect.

I’m having the same issue since last month. Changed the oil one time. I didn’t change both the filters though and didn’t drop pan
Is your problem fixed?.

where can I find the TCU number and how do I check it? I don’t have the android to download and see TCU number

I saw atleast one post where someone was able to take to Nissan and update which got rid of P0841. They didn’t know what the update was. Nissan charged either $150 or $250’to update it.

Update, I dropped the pan and cleaned up magnets today. Filled with Beck Arnley ns3 which I'm pretty sure is OE fluid. Cleared the code and drove it 25 miles to work with no issues thus far. Thank you all.
Don't forget to change the cartridge filter periodically also, not just the pan filter.

I drove it to work one day, and to carvana in the nearest big city. They offered me 1,000 over the kbb value which I took, didn't trust it anymore. Check engine light never came back on and it was shifting fine. Picked up a beater 05 camry which drives flawlessly with 3 times the mileage as the rogue did just none of the comfort.
