Downspouts

Sometimes you just need to deal with runoff ASAP.

All the above.......hey it worked..............then you kind of forgot about it.

Is that Al siding? Hahahhaha I can imagine pops taking a nap in the room right there a hardball smacking the house!!!

Rode by this today.
Turned around and grabbed a picture.

Serious question: Does it matter if the long diagonal section is mounted with the longer side vertical? I had a gutter salesman stop by and try to sell me all new gutters and downspouts just because I have a couple short sections which are vertical like seen in the picture. But then I noticed nearly house in my neighborhood has at least one or two sections just like it. So i became suspicious.

You don't want the seam on a side or bottom. You also dont want the DS perfectly vertical, the drips from the 2nd story will fall all the way to the spout elbow and make a loud banging noise. Cant sleep through that. Ask me how I know :)

At least the house isn't slammed in with 200 of the same on 1/4 acre lots , with 10 ft between them . How anyone could live in a subdivision is beyond me .
I just think maybe you don't know what happens when someone needs a job, reasonably close to home, you know, a place to live and earn money............near most any semi-urban area with decent jobs..................

But now days, seems like there are way more great jobs than people, but this was not the case when I was raising a family. We had more than 10 feet spacing though. I see most new homes, more like 5.

Live like that, what you can afford PLUS save 25-30%+ of every dime......................THEN you can retire and get a great place with some land.

I do understand people need to be fairly close to work . In my part of Michigan you can do a commute of 30 minutes and it's like another planet , but most choose to live on top of each other .

I'm fortunate that I have a big lot. No close by neighbors and work 2 miles from home.

Speaking of weird downspouts ...

On the way home from the last offroad trip to PA, 81 was closed for an accident so we ended up heading up Pa61 through Shamokin, Centralia , Frackville to get back to 81.

A lot of houses in Mt Carmel PA had their downspouts going over the sidewalk into the road. Take a look at this on google streetview

I was just thinking of those! I've seen them. They're around Hershey, too.
