Would there be any advantage or disadvantage, besides price, to use a double ADBV oil filter on my engine? Is there a possibility of restricting oil flow with this type filter vs the required spec'd filter for my engine?

I'm wondering this as well. KCJeep mentioned something about double ADBV filters and it got me thinking. I've had a few dry starts with oil filters recently.

KC informed me about the double ADBV filters as well.
I have only had 2 oil filters ever make my engine rattle upon startup.
A NAPA ProSelect caused a rattle every startup and a MC FL-400S made my engine rattle every now and then. I will never use a PS again but still use MC.
I just think, in my case, it would be like extra insurance. I can see where this filter would be ideal if mounted sideways or base end down, like on Toyota engines.

These filters look great on paper I will be running one next OCI. Until then I won't know if they are as good as I hope. Even the Pure One I'm running now is giving me start up noise every once in a while even though it's summer so I am hoping these work well. Not a knock on the Pure One, virtually every filter has done that so far except the FL-400S and the TG3600.
The obvious "advantage" of these filters is they should do a stellar job of holding the oil up top at shut down, which is what they were intentionally designed for. I see no disadvantage as long as the filter functions like it is supposed to, and I don't see why they wouldn't. I have three of them now and they all pass the blow test with flying colors, they are harder to break free on the flow test as you might imagine but if I can do it with a blow test the engine will have no problems generating flow IMO.
I'll just go back to the FL-400S if they don't pan out but I enjoy the experimenting.
So far from what I've been able to tell the STP S8316 is the best buy of the bunch, so I'll likely run that one first.

That's exactly my reasoning as well on the STP. Seems like a whole lot of bang for the buck and it is an inch longer. Wait till you feel the can, zikes it's like a brick!
The FL-400S I cut open from my Jeep did have a bit of waviness in the pleats, which makes me wonder if a little more media would be beneficial as well.
