Doritos' The Quest

they are all being forced to get rid of the saturated (or whatever) fats, and what oils they can use. taste goes down the toilet.
my wife and I were talking about this the other day. McD's fries were SO much better back in the day, the 1/4 pounder was larger diameter too.
I remember yodels and ding dongs were so much better also; remember when they were wrapped in foil?
the regional brands seem to be holding on. Zapp's potato chips in Louisiana are very good, up here in PA we have a few PA chip brands that are great also, Herr's especially.
for pizza I can only make my own anymore, or the one good Italian run pizza shop downtown.
my rule is, it ain't good pizza if the guy behind the counter can speak good english! I want someone 'just off the boat' from Italy making my pizza.

I remember back in the day after killing a bag of nacho cheese Doritos, you'd have a catcher's mit of cheesy goodness on your fingers. not anymore.

+1 I can barely taste the seasonings anymore on Doritos. Remember back in the day a Dortio called Extremes or something similar? These were sold for a few months and I never saw them again. They were really good.

Currently the best Dorito flavor going is the Sweet Chili flavored ones. They have the strongest flavor of all the Doritos and I hope they stick around for awhile.

I also like the Heinz ketchup flavored chips from Herr's. They can be found at Kmart sometimes. They really have a nice seasoning on them.

I agree. Doritos ain't what they used to be. I think it is more than seasoning. The basic corn meal seems to have changed. Maybe it is the oil. I don't know. They just ain't what they used to be...

Here is the article from the Wall Street Journal that I was thinking of. I found a URL that had the whole article without having to have a subscription. It's the last news story on the left, at the bottom of the page (the direct URL didn't work):
