From a admin at another board I visit from time to time but never ask any questions anymore.

Don't use synthetic. It may be too slick, and cause excessive slip in the clutches and bands.

Kindly ask him who/where/which shop or mech he goes to or obtained the info from, and then post it here to share (so that we can avoid them like a plague).

These guys sometimes also recommend drilled 170 degree thermostats, engine restorer, K&N air filters, and lucas oil additive.

These guys are not out to get the most life from there engines/transmissions.

I don't want to hear this kind of stuff. My 175k miles 850 Turbo Volvo has Red Line D4 and I don't want it to fail now that I have the straight scoop. If you don't know of such things than they can't happen to your car, right?

Exactly, Lonnie. Just a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Add that to the presumption of "full scope" wisdom ..and you've got a very dangerous combination.

Ignorance is truly bliss if it is pure enough. Taint it ..and it turns toxic.

OH-OH.. been doing yearly drain & fills with Mobil 1 ATF on my Jeep Cherokee since 99 when I got it new...has 222,000km on her now ,when is my transmission going to start slipping?

That is what I hear when I talk to the "red neck Ford F-150 crowd".

Way too many out there in better financial shape ...obviously by accident. Sometimes I have to grant concession to the elitists/aristocrats. The bourgeoisie ..what good does money do them anyway
