o recently I blew out my e clutch pack on my zf 5hp19fla awd transmission. At the time I was using aimsoil ATF with a big cooler and thermo to keep the transmission cool. The transmission os rated at about ~250ft lbs and I was outing about 150lbs over that limit, lost 4 and 5 th gear.

Got the transmission rebuilt with new cluth packs, steels, etc. And had the valve body done to get more line pressure.

Before using the transmission I wanted to see if there is any recommended fluid for transmission or should I run oem fluid.

I hear now that syn ATF might not be so good on this application due to lower friction coefficency to the clutch packs? Also hear about tractor fluid, but dont know if this applies to my application?

Trans fluid will not help with breakage of parts. Adding more line pressure may help if the problem with slipping as there will be more pressure holding the clutch, but then the higher line pressure probably will make the shifts harder and that will increase the shock loading of the parts and increase breakage. Usually the recommended fluid is the best choice.

hmm i was thinking in the way of the friction modifiers in the fluid that allows x amount of slippage etc...
