Donaldson P551132 Cut open - New

More photos, adbv was suprisingly pliable and soft like silicone. Was expecting it to harden a bit. Counted 48 pleats plus one seam.

Louvers look formed very well. Too bad all filter's louvers are not as good.

All of the 9 Donaldsons I have on hand all the louvers look very well formed and open. Their larger oil filter is literally louver porn when peeking in the center hole with a flashlight haha.

Anyways I'm wicking the filter dry for a few days and will try to pry the endcaps off for a closer look.

Heres a full album photos of the teardown after roughly 2 weeks of drying with paper towels. Media is very well potted with roughly 1/8" deep of chocolate brown colored plastisol. Media felt very soft on the fingers, the texture is certainly more finer than that I have seen on the previous pink Fram synthetic media. There is 2 layers followed by a metal wire backing mesh screen.

You can see the partial exposed wire backing on the defective pleat prior to ripping off the endcaps with pliers.
HPL appears to be doing some cleaning is this is the first time I've seen this many chunks of carbon specs on the filter.
@OVERKILL you'd might be interested in seeing this.

That's a good looking filter!

Forgot to add an extra photo. Since the endcaps were torn off with the media and wire backing intact. The media height measures approximately 2 inches long.

Pleat folds is roughly half inch long with a total of 48 plus the seam.

That tracks with what I found on the one I cut open. 48 + crimp & 1.5" between endcaps (leaving .25" for each endcap side)

That looks like a high quality, solid filter as expected from a Donaldson Synteq product! I wonder if it would fit on my 2024 Prius Prime? The one that they have listed as an interchange for the YZZF1 have an efficiency of 50% at 20 microns....

Might try to take mesurements of the housing at my next oil change and compare a F1 style filter next to a D1 style filter at work nest week...

Should fit most Toyota engines, however some newer generation engines may have a smaller mounting base face outside diameter and less surrounding clearance as one member here have conversed with me about this a few weeks ago in a different thread. If your car can fit any of the Toyota YZZD1 & YZZD3 filters which have a nominal can seam O.D. of 3 inches and a gasket outside diameter of 2.76 or 70mm then you should be in luck to use any of the larger options over the smaller YZZN1 / F1 filters.

Toyota TIS torque spec for their spin-ons is 9.5 foot pounds or 13 newton-meters which should be plenty to ensure good gasket seating and free of potential leaks.
