I have been reading lots of good things about the
ac delco UPF-44 here on the forum. Suppose to flow better than a wix and filter down to a smaller micron rating too!

The 51042 wix filter that I cut open had a nice bright orange ADBV. What type does the UPF-44 use? Does it really mater? I am looking for a good flowing filter on cold start ups with a good ADBV.

I could have sworn that the original AC Delco oil filter that I took of my new 1500 HD 6.0 truck had a orange ADBV. I started to use hastings filter(nitrile adbv) but was getting some unwanted startup noice on cold start, below 20 degrees. I switched to the wix filter and the noise is much better but still there. It starts 5 seconds after starting the truck and last for about 40 seconds. It does not do it above 20 degrees. It is more of a knock then tick.

Hoping that it's not CSK related!!!

Thanks for any filter advice you can give me.

All UPF filters still use nitrile ADBVs
The only difference is that the gasket is teflon coated so it does not stick to metal surfaces. No silicon on UPFs

I just ordered 6 from gmpartsdirect. With shipping the price came to $7 per filter. I plan on using these and wix for my truck, and wix for everything else.
