Recently I found out about the UPF 44 and how it folws better and filters better then almost any other filter. Does the UPF 44 still out flow and filter a Wix (Napa Gold) in a larger size? The UPF 44 is so small does this matter? I'm trying to decide if I should switch to it from Napa Golds 1522's in my LS1 and Chevy 5.3. Thank you!

How much does it flow? I was told by a Wix rep that the 1515 I use flows 7-9 GPM, and filters to 19 micron absolute.

Do a search. GM claims that the UPFs flow to 8microns.
I think you mean filter to 8 microns. According to the UPF chart found on the web and on the box, the ultraguard gold will flow 10gpm with 30psi differential pressure with 5w30 at 34 degrees fahrenheit.

Running the UPF in my LS-1. First analysis with it coming up shortly, prior was with Mobil 1 filter. I buy the UPF by the case. There are several dealers who discount them as well.
If all else is equal, I would run the larger filter. But the UPF and the wix are not equals. A bit of anecdotal info.......my camry revs past 6k and my ol lady has a lead foot, and runs the heck out of that car. I had a wonderful 4k UOA on mobil 1 5w30 and a napa gold 1396, which is one of the smallest filters made.....it might hold 6 ounces of oil. Take that how you wish.........it could mean that the Napa golds are excellent filters that filter and flow well enough to protect your engine under hard throttle, even if there is very little filter media........or it could mean that the size of the filter doesn't mean as much as some of us think.
Oh yeah.....If it were my car, I would run the UPF. But it is not my car, and I have no doubt that the wix will serve your purpose quite well.
