Anything mass produced is bound to have flaws in the process. Friend had similar issues with K&N. Seller said "as is" Contacted K&N wanted a receipt and codes on filter/box. They replied the filters were very old stock and the seller was not an authorized re-seller, so his loss. Low price should be a BIG warning. The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten....

Fully agree. Menards is an approved retailer of Purolator products. Just a yearly sale.

I cut one apart, (Purolator PL 14615 ) and thought it was fine, no sloppy glue, even pleats, build quality etc. Everything looked great.

A couple years ago I was looking at some Purolator's on the shelf and noticed the louvers in the center tube weren't even opened, not even a little gap using my Streamlight pen light. There were multiple like that on the shelf and even found some at a different store the next I was doing an oil change just to see if it changed. Ever since then, Purolator isn't even a consideration for me.

Plus their filter selection is odd. Their highest tier 20k filter (gold) has unknown efficiency specs, the next tier is their BOSS filter rated at 99% at 46 microns as well as being rated for 20k??, then their mid-tier ONE filter is 99% at 20 microns. Wouldn't the Purolator ONE be their best filter then??? Make that make sense....

Before Purolator stopped telling people on the phone what the efficiency of the Boss and Gold 20K filter are, I was told by them that the Gold 20K filter was the same efficiency as the Boss.
