Does Purolator have any QC?

Purchased two filters from Menards for upcoming oil changes. They were on sale for $5 each. I figured why not. Glad I opened the box. You would think this would be caught before it leaves the factory. I want to purchase a made in US filter but **** its tough when this is the product. I'm going to email them and ask if somethings missing lol.

Their mantra “Nothing gets by us” is misleading. Only two things get by them, QC and the majority of particles >20 microns.

I just took off/cut a Puro Napa Gold this morning, it looked great. Put on one of those you posted from Menards but mine had a gasket. Both had wide open louvers.

I only buy Puro’s I can inspect first since their quality control is hit and miss as you alluded to.

Wonder if someone snagged the base gasket? Probably not, just bad manufacturing QA. Extra tightening isn't going to seal that one, lol. When buying filters at a store, always pull the filter out and visually check it out before buying it.

I wondered the same thing. That's pretty low if someone took it. Other than the missing gasket it looks great. Open center tube louvers, no debris or glue slop. Menards service counter took it and marked as defective.

Yes it was! I got 8 for the Sienna and 6 for the crosstrek. $6.99 each. They arrived today and all are Fram Synthetic Endurance, thank God, no tough guards. I would have returned if they were.

Yes I do at most 5k intervals on oil but with the Fram synthetic endurance I’m comfortable changing the filter every other oil change or 10k or less. So yes, they’ll last a long time.

Haha I hear you, I took a risk for sure but I put in the note section in all caps “SynEndurance ONLY - DO NOT SHIP TOUGH GUARD CRAP”
