Does it make any sense to mix oils?

It will still not lead to an optimum/maximum OCI interval... mixing a fully formulated 0w with 0w or a 5w with 5w is not a precise exercise, unless the original base oils properties are known at first for basic calculations!
Do you even know what you just said? What original base oil properties? What basic calculations?

This sounds like a typical "parrot" response that people repeat because someone said this once.

YES.
need to know what "viscosity" base oils were originally used to arrive at the two or more formulated oils, that are to be mixed by the BITOG self-mixer enthusiast. Otherwise, can you tell what is the baseline viscosity to measure the changes against ?
