I got an old clunker I drive to work in everyday, and leaks and burns about 1/4-1/2 quart a week and I just keep dumping havoline in. I found chevron supreme at a doller store for $2 a quart and I am paying $2.76 a quart for havoline, first is chevron supreme any good? and will it hurt to just start mixing it in with the havoline? I do 6k oci on the truck changing the filter at every 3k

Nope mixing wont hurt at all. Next oil change get some MaxLife from Walmart for cheap and it should help with the leaking/burning.

doesn't hurt to mix. if your losing that much oil, why not try a high mileage oil or to keep costs down. start using supertech

With that amount of burning/use, you almost have a perpetual oil change.
The oils will mix perfectly - no problems there.
Consider buying gallons containers, or 5 qt containers.
You know you will use it, and you will get a much better price.
It's like a smoker who only buys one pack of cigarettes at a time, even thought they smoked for years. They should buy a carton for the $ savings.

A 5 gallong bucket of hdeo wouldnt be a bad buy actually since you can get it pretty cheap at some tractor supply places.

Texaco is Chevron's parent company, and both have shown to be excellent oils probably formulated with similar bases. So no, there is no problem with mixing them...

ended up picking up some mobil clean 5000 never noticed it was only $1.97 a quart. supertech was $1.74, but I went with the mobil. Still beats paying $2.76 for the havoline

I also hear that Motorcraft Synth Blend, and TropArctic are great sleeper oils.

I've never read of an incident here where anyone blended oils by different manufacturers and had a problem. There are numerous old threads about "additive clash" and "differing base stocks," but if you read them they are all speculation w/out any cited examples of engine damage.

Also, there a number of BITOGers who make their own synthetic blends...and again, not one reported engine disaster among the lot. I belong in that group (Chevron Supreme and Pennzoil Platinum, 3-to-1) because I'm tied to waranties but want a little extra protection. Thanks to rebates and hoarding, a 4qt oil change w/that make-up costs me $3.37; throw in a hoarded Bosch Premium filter and I'm still under $7.

Don't sweat the mixing...you're fine.
