Does anyone run 5w30 in new Honda?

Why 25k miles?
Was the second oil change on the accord. civic went to supertech 5/30 around 36K miles, ranger from 200 miles. 4 runner from 28K mile mark when I purchased it. mostly supertech, one time I've ran rotella gas truck once. valvoline synpower/modern engine. but I'd say 90% are supertech.

Nope, you are totally wrong. Anything other than 0W-20 is forbidden because Honda only specifies 0W-20.
2019 Civic Warranty booklet (came with the car):
"The warranties in this booklet do not cover: • The failure of any part or accessory due to: - Abuse, misuse, accidental damage, or acts of nature. - Improper installation or maintenance. - A low fluid level or the use of a fluid other than specified by Honda."

Owners Manual:
"...oil of suitable viscosity for the ambient temperature as shown."
A snippet of said owners manual is provided below and verifies "as shown" is only 0W-20.

Look through one of the Honda Russian Accord owner's manuals. It specs W30, whereas the USDM owner's manuals only list 0W20. Same exact car in both markets. I run either 10W30 or 5W30 in mine.

I owned a 07 acura TL that when i put in higher viscosity atf the trans shifted better. People in the acurazine forums were putting in a bottle of type f in a drsin and fill to thicken up the watery honda atf it was telling people to use and have trans breaking down. Seems everytime automakers drop down their oil viscosity recommendations the cars exhibit problems including my current 15 Infiniti Q40 which is just a rebadged G37. There all sorts of complaints about Infiniti trans buggy shifting so I did the same thing by adding castrol transmas import atf which is higher viscosity and trans shifta fine now.

On another note why i bothered making this post is I bought a gallon of Delo syntblend 400 10w30 for 3 dollars on a clearance at autozone and mixed that with HPL's ester based cleaner oil and my car is a totally different animal. Drives like its brand new and has all sorts of power now. I dont know if its the cleaning action of the HPL or the thicker viscosity of the Delo. I can say I'm never going back to 5w30. I'll either go with 0w40 or 5w40 euro oils in that VQ engine cause it loves heavier weight

I’m curious if using 5w30 will help with oil consumption
Likely, yes.
My daughter's 2013 Corolla, 1.8L.
She bought it with something like 185k miles on it. (Salesman owned it). The first few OCI I put 0W20 Valv Full Syn HM. It used a lot of oil. (I don't recall exactly, it's in a post here, a quite a while ago; too lazy to look now). I switched to 5W30 and consumption dropped significantly.

It's pretty obvious when they tell you what grades to use. Motor fails, and if they see that you put the wrong oil in there? That there's ticket to voiding your warranty. I don't know why you guys enjoy playing stupid.
I guess Honda must build different versions of the same motor then (with different tolerances), because the European owner's manual for my '18 CR-V specify anywhere from 0W20 to a 40 grade for the 1.5l. The '19 CRV European manual takes the 40 grade away but still allows for 30 grade:

Why is their capacity so low? :o

Nope. No reason to. When Honda clearly states in the owner's manual that 0w-20 is recommende for all temperatures, I see no reason to use a thicker oil that is going to hurt the fuel economy.
People need to give up on the, "thicker oil is better" mentality. These manufacturers pay some very smart people a lot of money to design their engines, so if they say 0w-20, thats good enough for me.

Have 110,000 miles on my 2014 Honda 2.4 Accord engine. Always with 0w20. Always wait on Maintenance Minder to get to about 15% life remaining, and change it. That's somewhere between 7500 and 9000 miles. This car has ALWAYS consumed about a quart of oil in one OCI. It seems to have slowed down to less than that now. Odd. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is what I put in it the last couple of times. I think I had Pennzoil Platinum (not Ultra) a few of the earlier OCI's.

Except that the physics show it is better. One thing you’re right about above is that it is “good enough”, that’s almost exactly how Honda puts it. “Acceptable” wear.

Those engineers you mention are doing all of this work so that they can comply with progressively more demanding fuel economy requirements. Why else would they be doing that? It’s not making anything better except for fuel economy. There are no technical or mechanical advantages to thinner oils, only drawbacks. In fact as they get continually thinner they take a lot of work (and money) to make them acceptable. The only advantage is fuel economy.

Run 5w30 in the Element and Expedition. Element is much quieter, sounds like a typewriter w the 5w20. Will be using 5w40 in the Expedition for camper towing season

I have an accord 1.5t, I’ve run both 0w20 and 5w30, pretty close to equal mileage on both grades and if there is a difference I can’t notice it. 65k on the car and no Issues yet. I started running 5w30 in the wife’s Subaru 2.5, so When I get a box of Kirkland I use one jug for her car and on for the Honda. I Wouldn’t stress about it too much either way. I’ve heard some folks run a Thicker oil in new Honda’s due to fuel dilution but I do a lot of interstate miles so I think mine probably is not at risk for dilution.
