Does anyone else not like Mobil 1 for no real reason?

Am I the only one who has some unexplainable lack of love for Mobil 1? Growing up, before I ever owned a car or had a license I thought that Mobil 1 was awesome! THE best! I'm not sure if there were really other popular and available "synthetics" on the market. Maybe it was advertising or watching various racing as a kid. Since I've been driving and owned vehicles for 31 years, I've never been a fan. I don't even have a good reason why. I know that they make good products, however I shop elsewhere. Shrinking myself and performing self psychology diag, the only thing I can think of is that maybe because Mobil 1 is such a household name, and so many people recognize the name and associate with being the best, that maybe I just don't want to me a sheep when it comes to purchasing decisions? I need to stand out from the crowd? Lol I don't even know. I just was wondering if anyone else has similar feelings to products like that.

I was hellbent on never, EVER watching Gattaca, because the trailer sucked. I held on to that and was adamant about how stupid that movie was.
Then one day I caught a movie 10 minutes in and was absolutely hypnotized by it. Turned out it was Gattaca. Didn't realize it till I went to check the TV guide to check what I just watched.

The reason you dislike Mobil 1 is because it's available everywhere. With such products, you often have a "I know it's good, but" reaction.

Any oil that delivers amazing value gets my money and Mobil 1 Delvac Extreme and the Mobil 1 ESP lineup are some of the best. If 5 was neutral with 1 being hate and 10 being love I'd say Mobil 1 falls on the 6.5-7 scale, if they keep making great oils for a good price and not make existing ones worse it will slowly go up more and more but that's with any brand.

But I'm fickle with oil I can't help but use something different just for the sake of using something different. Can't say there's any brand I love and will religiously use. No brand I can think of scores above an 8 even the ones I'm using now. Don't love any oil but i most certainly hate a few which are the fraudulent ones.

And yes I've called Mobil the Apple of motor oil because it's such a home name now no one can call it bad without having to put up a strong argument.

About same here, I'm buying oil to put into engine and mostly pay attention to what the oil offers and also price. I even bought and used Castrol for the oil while not a fan of the company and I'm generally avoid buying anything British if possible.
I think Shell is mostly owned by Brits now, so I'm slowly clearing my Pennzoil stock and switching to Mobil 1. Whenever I was buying Pennzoil Euro LX oil I was telling myself it was made and bottled in Germany to chase Brits shadow away :ROFLMAO:

I used it on our commercial trucks when it first came out and my cars a few years later. Its been changed a zillion times since but I never went back....
It's not on my radar and I'm not tied to any products because advertising doesn't have any influence on my purchases.

If you love it great. Whatever floats your boat.

Is there going to be a series - or just Mobil 1 ?

It’s not my brand of choice, but used it two days ago largely because it was the only VW 508 spec oil I could find at Wal Mart. It had a good green color and I lived.

I avoided it when I was a Castrol and Amsoil fanboy. I think I was just anti because it was so popular and advertised everywhere. Then, when it became the least expensive and most readily available oil that met my MB Euro diesel w/DPF requirement, I gave in. And boy was I wrong. It isn't Amsoil, but it sure works and keeps the engine clean.
For cost effective, I love me some Mobil 1 ESP!

When I got my first turbo back in days when water cooled center sections weren't the norm, it was time to get some synthetic. At any given retail outlet, Mobil 1 was the only thing you could count on being there. And though not cheap is was more than reasonably priced.

Plus Mobil 1 had shown it did what it was supposed to under high heat, performance conditions etc. Super cold starting was another big benefit.

When Honda came out with their HT-06 deposits standard it was pointed out many of the other full synthetic, off-the-shelf brands didn't pass it. I think Castrol was specifically named. Under those circumstances that's an example of products I'd be apt to call snake oil

Bottom line, over the span of all those years, basic Mobil 1 varieties have always delivered. At least more consistantly than any other major brands for what a full synthetic oil is supposed to do.

Heck, since about 2011 their add-pack that was already LSPI friendly. Others weren't doing that for 5+ years later. And it was shown recently Mobil 1 was passing what would become the SP standard since back then too.

I really only care about the Mobil 1 ESP line up. Beyond that I'm neither for or against the brand. Might seriously consider Mobil 1 15w50 if I needed a 50wt oil for something. I used the Mobil 1 ATF in my 04 Silverado transmission and PS, all I can say is it worked.
