The other day in downtown Fort Wayne IN, I saw a late model red Accord with Ohio plates. The plate numer? 5W20 OIL. I nearly drove over the curb laughing.
I once saw a car with the plate number "4X4X8". It was an Accord. (A Cord of wood is 4 feet x 4 feet x 8 feet)(A Face Cord is 18 inches x 4 feet x 8 feet).
"Other non-legal definitions of firewood volume include standing cord, kitchen cord, running cord, face cord, fencing cord, and country cord. A face cord many times is defined as 1/3 of a full cord. It is therefore typically a pile of stacked wood with logs (split or unsplit) 16 inches in length x 4 feet high x 8 feet long.
According to the Weights and Measures Act in Canada, the only true definable cord is a full cord and all other fractions thereof."
I'll add to that, a "tourist cord" sold at ski lodges and the bundle of firewood sold roadside to park campers, advertized to entice the greenhorns as "Fresh Firewood" $5.
