Just curious more than anything else. Does an oversize (taller) filter option exist for a '90 Nissan 240SX KA24E 4 cylinder 12V DOHC? (Actually the current size is plenty big - just curious if anybody knows of one offhand)

It normally takes:
Purolator: L24457
Wix: 51361
Fram: PH3682

According to Wixfilters.com it is:
3/4-16 thread size
4" tall
2.9" diameter
no by-pass (does Nissan have an internal bypass for it's filters?)
yes ADBV

thanks,

A Nissan with a 3/4 INCH thread? If it is the bigger 20 mm thread, try an AC PF 1177 if you can find one. Big old sucker filled with filter media.

According to Wix, Toyotas (at least mine) have 3/4 as well. I figured they'd all be metric. My TOyota filters also fit my Kohler mower engine as well.

According to Wix that PF1177 crosses to a 51381 which has a 20X1.5mm and a 13-19 psi bypass.

But to be honest, the current standard replacement filters are PLENTY big especially by today's standards it seems.

This was just a point of curiosity but I think I'll probably just stick w/ what has brung us all these miles.

I use the Ford PH3600 in place of the Nissan-PH3682/Toyota-PH3614. You should be easily able to xreference this filter at pureoil/wixfilters/or at the parts store for the brand that you choose.

I've used this on various Nissans-Maxima/Stanza/Sentra....

3/4" was the older thread before Nissan switched to the 20mm used today. Do NOT mix threads on your vehicle.
