I wonder if they changed the paint thickness etc. because my dad's 2012 doesn't have any bubbling. It was krown treated every year until the last 2 years though.

Steve, maybe you did, but pop the hood and closely check the underside of the front edge.
I would be very surprised if there's zero signs of paint bubbling on this aluminum hood by now.
Even if did start to show signs of it visible with the hood closed, I'd toss one of those molded bug deflectors on'er and call her good.

We do that yearly after we wash the vehicles from the winter. Then we inspect for stone chips to touch up with the paint-pens before putting on the yearly sealant. I haven't noticed any. He does have one small tiny bubble about the size of pencil end in the roof in the windshield seam area but that's to be expected because it's a high moisture area and he hasn't been spraying it for the last couple of years. It's also 8 years old with high mileage.
