Do Honda water pumps also have the “warble” sound?

Hey all I have a timing belt service done at Honda dealer recently for a 3.5 v6 j35 and they stated they changed “it all” but it seems that they just did the

Belt, tensioner, water pump, fresh coolant

But who even know what they do change in there or they don’t change, they could write anything if they really wanted to

I just got vehicle 2 weeks ago so I’ll never know if it had this noise before but I feel like I hear the warble noise coming from under the hood that was said to be plaguing all the aisin aftermarket timing kits

Is this expected for a Honda oem water pump?

All parts and service was done at a Honda dealer so I assumed they used OEM ahaha

Regardless this could be good knowledge for other people looking to do a timing change

Thanks!

No "warble noise" from my Aisin water pump installed in May on a 3.0L. All good so far, knock wood. Fyi, Aisin was the OE pump on my Accord. Also belt not from Aisin kit but separate OE Gates Unitta made in Japan. Posted about TB/WP replacement HERE. If done at the dealer, I would expect a Honda Yamada pump was used on the 3.5L.

You are making an assumption based on what?

Yes they should change WP, but did they? Service order? Receipt?

Everything is PAPERLESS now?

Sorry didn’t wanna misinform so I updated my post

I was trying to get at the fact that they said they changed “it all” but I’ll never know what they actually did change. I feel like they can say and do anything these days

But I won’t make this a thread about assumptions. Let’s assume they did as they said and they did change with the Honda oem pump too

Both my 3.0 and 3.5 have done this with the Aisin kits off rockauto, to no I’ll effect long term.

I’ve heard of a lot of the Aisin kits doing this, maybe the dealer used an Aisin water pump?

Yeah but I just don’t see why they wouldn’t use Honda since the part dept is attached no?

Fwiw, I agree with your conclusion. While anything possible I suppose, a Honda dealer using an Aisin water pump (not current OEM), very unlikely imo. Not much of a Honda "dealer" if they did. Tomorrow or next day I'm going to listen very closely for any odd noise and report later. As noted though, Aisin was the OE wp on my 3.0L.

A dealership would have to be completely rogue and on its way either to court or out of business to use non-OEM parts. They don't need to. They can, and do, mark up the OEM parts as much as they want. Sometimes 300%-400%.

Of course, I could be wrong. I've worked in dealerships, but I don't know it all. Nevertheless, I salute the OP's paranoia. I'm a complete paranoid, too.

I recommend that you go back to the dealer and talk with the service manager about the issue.

To update, today went to check out my Aisin WP, no "warble noise" or any noise for that matter. Probable loudest sound from that area is from PS pump pully area. Since it seems 'likely' the OP has OEM Yamada, perhaps it's more related to installation/replacement in some manner. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
