I don't mind paying the same for the cartridge style filter. The biggest reason is I feel I get more by the ability to inspect the filter/media before it goes on my car. With the metal can you don't know what you're getting until after it's run it's XXk oci.
As for spin on filter designs, I need a metal/solid center tube, not an open cage design like the ecore.
