DM-V2 vs IcePeak tires

I'm in Michigan and I'm looking at new winter tires for my 1/2 ton truck. What would you guys do... $705 for Blizzak DMV2 tires or $900 for the new IcePeak model?

My last set was DMV2 and they lasted me 7 years. No complaints about their performance.

Can’t comment on IcePeak but I did/do have Blizzaks DMV2 275/60/20 on my Sierra and Michelin X-ice Snow 275/60/20 on my suburban and between the two Michelins have an edge overall..both work great but the Michelins perform slightly better..BUT price is a factor and for the right price I would do the Blizzaks.

Michelin has a new one out this year too but I believe the Michelin's cost more so they are not on my list. I tried their 2019 version (xi2?) in-between DMV2's and that only lasted 1 day.

I had other Blizzaks on the cars. They worked well for me but wore very fast. When I needed winter for the Pilot the DMV2 were getting mixed reviews overall, combined with my wear experience, I got Continental WinterContact Si instead. Those lasted 6 years and got replaced with VikingContact 8 this past season. I was happy with their performance all around and they rocked in the blizzard we had.

The DMV2 is older, the Icepeak may have better technology, rubber compound etc. The WS90 from many was a good step forward from the WS80 and other older ones.

I used DMV2s on my Pathfinder for the past 9 years. They were perfectly good and go me up to Houghton and back in the winter fwiw.

You might not have the choice of WS90s, I’m not sure. FWIW, I now have studded Nokian Hakkas and I’ve only gone up to South of the bridge area with them last winter. These tires I feel more ponderous (way more mushy) in dry and wet roads compared to the DMV2 but on snow/ice I just leave my suv on auto and I’ve had no issues.

WS90's have been discontinued and were not available in my truck's size. I think I'll pass on the DM-V2 sale and wait for more IcePeak reviews.
